ANSWER TO THE MYSTERY MURDER: The cigar

Sadly, none of my detectives (readers) got it. The murder was committed by Denzel. Yes Denzel.

Denzel was the accountant in the Law firm, he loved Ciara so much but he loved money more. He had connived with the former Chief executive auditor to falsify the accounts which led to his termination. Although, at first Denzel thought that Ciara was going to co-operate with him, so he decided to get married to her soon and he intended to take her out for dinner to tell her his plans.

Remember Denzel was a chain smoker and loved to party so much and he and Ciara loved to club on Friday Nights together.

Ciara had found out the real reason behind the falsified account and Denzel had even promised to give a certain per cent if she should co-operate but she refused.

On Friday, they would have partied together, however Ciara had told Denzel she had work to do. Omah Ciara's secretary had told Denzel she was going to expose him on Monday, (Ciara told Omah almost everything) and Denzel knew he would be terminated and face criminal charges, so while Omah was not on her desk that Friday after getting himself drunk and arriving at the office, he saw Ciara step out for a while from the office. He drugged her coffee but dropped his cigar while trying to leave in his drunken state.


This would have been one of thos unsolved murders if not for the tiny piece of evidence, epithelial cells from the saliva on the cigarettes.

MYSTERY MURDER: The Cigar

Ciara was a Greek goddess. She was the perfect epitome of hotness. Long legs, slim waist and a big bust to accompany that. She worked in one of the high profile chambers on Wall Street, Palmer and Partners.  As a beautiful lady, she was the envy of most ladies this was not a surprise as most women hated her. To crown it all up she was proud and arrogant, a little bit of sass here and there.

It was rumored that she was dating Palmers husband Collins, however it was just a rumor. Nobody ever knew  the truth.

Ciara was dedicated to her job. Aside partying till dawn every Friday night, she enjoyed her job. She was the Auditor of the Firm and did other personal jobs aside that. Ciara apart from her attitude and physical beauty was a withdrawn person and was easily loveable when people got to know her.

 

Last week,  Collins had announced in the Boardroom that he was going to replace the Chief audit executive due professional negligence by the former auditor. To everyone’s surprise, Ciara was assigned to the post of Chief audit executive. This did not go down well with Palmer as she was seen acting really strange towards Ciara and staring at her intensely during the board meeting.

 

‘Hey’ Denzel said as he approached Ciara. He hugged her and kissed her when they were in the confines of her office. ‘Congratulations’ He said as he brushed his hands over her shoulders. ‘You work so hard, I cant imagine the job awarded to someone else’

Ciara smiled and walked towards the printer. This new post meant more work for her but Denzel had promised to assist her. Denzel was the accountant of the firm and was a big fan of Ciara. He could do anything for her. Aside money she was his second love. Denzel was a chain smoker and loved clubbing. On Friday Nights they were usually together.

‘Would you want coffee?’ Denzel asked as he saw Ciara settle down on her seat looking exhausted. ‘And lets go for dinner I have something to discuss with you.’  He had told Ciara.

He kissed her and knew that was the perfect time….with that promotion he wanted to marry her, there was so much they could do together. They could be an indispensable team. He thought. As he was still making out with her, Diane walked in on them. Denzel took his leave and promised to come back.

For one thing Diane was  jealous . She simply hated Ciara and had even shown it in many ways than one. Once she has spread rumors in the office about a love affair with Collins to annoy Mrs Palmer, so Ciara would get sacked. What annoyed Dianne most was Ciara’s affair with Denzel. Diane could do anything to get Denzel and she had vowed to have Denzel at all cost even though it meant killing Ciara, and there was news flying around the office that Denzel was planning to propose to Ciara. She had to stop it and soon. She entered the office to see Denzel making out with Ciara, she was disgusted and wished it was her.

‘You asked for the statement of accounts’ Dianne said after Denzel left with disgust written all over her face.’ Ciara knew she was going to have a stressful weekend looking over the firms account because there were several complaints about some funds missing. However, she knew it was just some errors as she planned to sort it out with her office boo.

Omah brought in the coffee sent by Denzel. Denzel  had asked Omah, Ciara's new secretary to make coffee for her. Omah walked over and handed Ciara the coffee. Omah was the only friend Ciara had in the company. Ciara often confided in Omah and although Omah and Ciara were employed at the same time Ciara received a fatter pay cheque than Omah. Many people would have been jealous but not Omah. Omah never bothered when Ciara bragged all day and discussed about her success and how she was in love with Collins and how she would make her way to wealth. Omah listened to everything  Ciara had to say knowing that one day it would pay off.

However that was last week, In a couple of days so many things had happened in the office but this Friday was different Ciara had to stay in the office because she had to submit the audit books and give a detailed account on Monday. She had promised to see Collins that weekend because his wife was on a business trip. So she thought.

Ciara was working hard. she had found some errors in the books and had investigated. She was sure of what had occurred. She went to the printer and started printing but the machine had run out of ink. She went over to Omah's desk to get more ink. Omah was within the building however she was not on her desk. Ciara waited for a while before getting the ink and heading back to her office. She felt something was weird about the office and could perceive Cigar vapor. However, she went back to printer. She took a sip of the coffee that Omah had made for her. Minutes later she was found dead. She died of poisoning.

Four people were present in the office at the time of the murder that day. Omar, Denzel, and Palmer had come back to town because she was ill. The only evidence the Cops found was a stick of cigarette found few miles away from the printer. They plan on running a scan on the epithelial cells from the saliva on the cigarettes.
